The general committee also guides activities of local branches.

Local Branches

Many of our activities are supported by local branches set up at universities, training colleges or by groups of people who share an interest in global mental health.

Membership and Trustees

In line with our governing document Minds for Health has both members and trustees.

  • Members - any member of the public (UK residents) can become a member. Members can contribute to discussions and express views at our general meetings but decisions on charitable activities are voted on by trustees. Members have the power to vote in officers and trustees at our annual general meeting. To become a member you need to complete our membership application form. To vote in our AGM (October) you must submit your membership form before the 1st February.
  • Trustees - are legally responsible for our activities and the organisation and may vote on decisions on charitable activities. To become a trustee you must also be a member of the charity, be nominated by another member and be elected at a general meeting of the charity. The trustee application and nomination form can be found here.

Joining the organisation

Minds for Health is an expanding organisation which is run entirely by volunteers. Our work is diverse and we require more committee members and trustees to develop our activities and organisation at national and local levels. We welcome any interest but especially from those with relevant skills in health and social work, fundraising and accounting, press and publicity, campaigning and research.

We hold general meetings at least three times a year and special general meetings, where particular decisions or deadlines must be met. Our commitee is spread around the country so we meet centrally in Leeds or York. Our national committee is elected yearly at our Annual General Meeting, (October) by our members and trustees.

Any questions about organisation or becoming a member, trusttee or committee member can be directed to the chair
