Adult Outpatient Department

Antara's Outpatient services see over 1500 patients every week. As well as answering health needs directly it also serves as a point of admission to inpatient care and as a base for community activities.

• Psychiatric clinics - For men and women.
• Drug addiction clinics - For admission and assessment of progress.
• Child guidance clinic - (see below_
• General Health clinic - offering basic primary care to local communities.

Outpatient care includes: assessment, investigations (blood tests, urine tests etc), medication, counselling, psycho-therapies and  support of self-help groups.

Children's Outpatient Department

Since 1997, Antara has offered a Child Guidance Clinic for children and young people affected by mental illness, behavioural or emotional problems and learning disabilities. Even operating just two days a week it sees over 350 patients and the demand for services is increasing.

Friends of Antara UK is currently funding the development of a designated children's outpatient's department which will be able to help more children and offer detailed assessment and therapies.

This department will also serve as a base for community interventions such as the Safe Motherhood and Child Survival Programme. 

Satellite Clinics

Beyond the Antagram centre, satellite clinics are an  important part of Antara's outpatient service.

Antara holds regular outpatient clinics in three rural locations and one inner city area. They deliver consultation, pharmacotherapy and counselling seeing between 60-90 patients in a single day. Often patients will travel many miles by boat or bus to reach these clinics.

The hope is to expand the number of satellite clinics to reach out to remote and deprived communities.
