Children's Outpatient Department

DSCN2813_1_1.JPGSince 1997, Antara has offered a Child Guidance Clinic for children and young people affected by mental illness, behavioural or emotional problems and learning disabilities. Even operating just two days a week it sees over 350 patients and the demand for services is increasing.

Friends of Antara UK is currently funding the development of a designated children's outpatient's department which will be able to help more children and offer detailed assessment and therapies.

This department will also serve as a base for community interventions such as the Safe Motherhood and Child Survival Programme.

Satellite Clinics

Antara holds regular outpatient clinics in three rural locations and one inner city area. They deliver consultation, pharmacotherapy and counselling seeing between 60-90 patients in a single day. Often patients will travel many miles by boat or bus to reach these clinics.

The hope is to expand the number of satellite clinics to reach out to remote and deprived communities.
