Braving hot coals to help children with mental illness

7_leeds_1.jpgOn the 10th October 2008 several brave volunteers walked across hot coals to raise money for Friends of Antara UK. The event was organised by Leeds University Student Union as part of an annual city-wide "Light Night"

Funds were raised through sponsorship and collections and Leeds university F of A UK group who were out in force to raise the profile of the charity. This is the third year F of A UK has benefitted from the student event but its incorporation into the festival made for a much bigger occassion. With over £2000 raised through previous year's fire walks hopes are high for a sizeable contribution to F of A UK's Child OPD appeal allowing the completiion and opening of a purpose-built outpatient department for young patients with mental illness around Kolkata, India.
